Enjoy your holidays at this modern and comfortable flat, featured in the New York Times Travel Section!

The location: The flat is conveniently located just across the street from the Tower of London and next to the beautiful and historic Trinity Square Gardens. Just a minute's walk from the Tower Hill tube stop, and approximately three minutes from the Tower Gateway DLR, you'll find this flat the ideal London base from which to explore London!

Inside the flat: This flat is equipped with a microwave, oven and stove, fridge and freezer, coffee maker, clothing washer and dryer, flat screen TV and DVD player with digital TV box, DVD library (40-50 movies), CD/tape player/radio, CD music library (eclectic mix from classical to country music to classic rock to Glenn Miller to opera to jazz to R&B), small book library (about 40 books), and wireless DSL. The flat rental includes all linens, towels, and cutlery. Free phone calls from the flat to the US, Australia, NZ, Canada, and most of Europe and the Mediterranean.

Local Attractions: Many points of historic interest, including the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and the Roman Wall. Located in 'The City' or financial district, the area is considered very safe, even for walking around late at night. Due to the flat's proximity to the tube station (and being within Zone One and on the Circle Line), you can hop on and quickly be near any major attraction in central London: Buckingham Palace, Churchill's War Rooms, Whitehall, Parliament, Big Ben, Kensington Palace, etc.

Just across the street, in addition to the Tower of London, is All Hallows by the Tower, a 1,500 year old church that has import for American as well as British history – William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, was baptized in the church as an infant, and John Quincy Adams, America’s 6th President and son of John Adams, America’s 2nd President, was married there in 1797. Tours of the church, which are offered free of charge, reveal among other things a 2,000 year old Roman road, part of the ancient Roman city of “Londinium”, that ran underneath the present site of the church.

There are many pubs and restaurants within a one or two minute walk. The Hung, Drawn and Quartered Pub is just across Great Tower Street next to All Hallows (church). There are also three other British pubs, a French restaurant (Chez Gerard), a Spanish restaurant, an Asian noodle place, a pizza/pasta restaurant, and a Subway sandwich shop all within a lazy 1-2 minute walk. If you're willing to walk a bit further, you will find a seemingly endless supply of restaurants.

One not to miss is Dickens Inn (a former hanging ground for pirates) at St Katherine's Docks! The docks also host a marina and many quaint cafes, shops and restaurants of all price ranges.

If you choose to walk east about 10-15 minutes, you'll find yourself in London's East End, and perhaps at Brick Lane which is famous for its excellent South Asian food! I highly recommend the Jack the Ripper Walking Tour of the East End, held at night 3-4 times per week and starting from the Tower Hill tube station, just about a minute (if that) from the flat.

Also nearby (meaning a 15 minute walk or less) is St Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge, The City (financial district), St Katherine's Dock, Shad Thames (riverwalk area with more restaurants and pubs), London Bridge, Southwark Cathedral, the Borough Market, Sir Francis Drake's ship the Golden Hinde, the HMS Belfast, and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.

Shakespeare's Globe Theatre is a pleasant walk across either London or Millenium Bridge near Vinopolis, a wine museum with a lovely restaurant with wine tasting. (The theatre and restaurant are ideal for a unique dinner and show experience as part of a memorable and romantic evening.)

Sleeping Arrangements: This flat is perfect for a single, couple, or small family. There is a UK Double bed upstairs (approximately the same as a US Queen) (see photo).

There is also a very large, comfy sofa which is six foot two inches between armrests and which makes up nicely into a twin bed if desired, and a $400 UK double size Aero-Bed available for guests' use. (However, I need to say that the 5 person maximum really means 2 parents and, at most, 3 children - the flat, at 500 square feet, is just too small to be used by 5 adults.)
