Les Mirabelles (3 bedrooms) and La Petite Mirabelle (2 bedrooms) are 2 tastefully converted barns, which, together with La Petite Maison (1 bedroom), a small detached cottage (details of this property available on request), can provide accommodation for up to 12. The superb enclosed 12x6m pool, has Roman steps, lighting and a solar heated shower. Les Mirabelles, sleeps up to 6 persons. Please note that this property may not be suitable for toddlers, due to the open plan staircase. At the entrance there is a pretty patio area, which has a large canopy for shade. There is a stone barbecue and a patio table and chairs, making this the perfect place to eat or to just sit and enjoy the tranquillity and fab views. Downstairs:Open plan Lounge and Kitchen/Diner. This has a high ceiling with exposed beams and French doors lead out to the patio. There is a comfortable sitting area, which has TV (English channels). The dining area has a typical French traditional dining table and chairs. The kitchen area is well equipped and has a gas cooker, microwave, dishwasher and large fridge/freezer.

The houses are set in over an acre of secluded gardens, which has swings and table tennis. A selection of bicycles are supplied for guests to use. There is also an impressive 12m x 6m swimming pool (shared with the owners), which has lighting, Roman steps and a solar heated shower.
This property is ideally located close to a rural hamlet in the vicinity of the towns of Verteillac, Ribérac, Villebois Lavalette, Mareuil and Brantome, popular for canoeing.It offers a very peaceful holiday and yet has easy access to local amenities. At St.Paul Lizonne there is an excellent 18 hole Mini (Crazy) Golf course and snack bar. There is something to suit everybody's interest in the Dordogne. Close by is the nature reserve of Tourbières Site de Vendoire with its nature museum and restaurant. Here you can take leisurely country walks, hire boats or fish. There are numerous splendid restaurants in the vicinity. The small, tranquil village of Champagne et Fontaine, just a few minutes away, boasts an excellent small self-service grocer's shop, boulangerie, post office and pub/tabac. Here you can sit outside in the pretty, little square, sample a glass of the local Charente speciality Pineau and absorb the friendly atmosphere. Those who enjoy the bustling French markets will find plenty to choose from. There are many fêtes and festivals going on throughout the summer. A visit to a French chocolaterie (make your own chocolate creation!) is another possibility. An outing to the Cognac distilleries is also recommended. Further afield is Futuroscope, near Poitiers, Limoges, famous for its porcelain and the Martyr Village of 1944, Oradour-Sur-Glane. Arcachon, just south of Bordeaux, is home to the highest sand dune in Europe, Dune du Pyla. Or you can simply relax round the pool with a glass or 2 of the local vin rouge! In any case you will have an enjoyable holiday here in France where you are assured of a warm Scottish welcome from the owners. |
