This 16th century chateau is a real gem. The young owners have refurbished the house beautifully and have succeeded in striking just the right balance between antique grandeur befitting a chateau and a fresh breath of modernism. The chateau is situated right on the top of a medieval village just a short drive from Carcassonne. (Ryan Air - London to Carcassonne for as little as £40 return!).

Ground Floor:
Very spacious living room (90m2) with grand wood-panelled fireplace. Plenty of sofas and armchairs and stylish stone coffee tables. Hi-fi. The broad arches, giving on to the garden, have been fitted with glass. Next to the largest arch is the dining table, seating 10 people (12 with an extension).
Off the entrance area is a library (20m2) with piano, TV (French satellite, so a few English-language channels like CNN), video-recorder. WC off entrance.

Well-equipped kitchen (20m2): large gas cooker with extraction hood, dish-washer, no fewer than 3 sinks, plenty of granite work-surface and storage, microwave oven, large fridge-freezer, washing machine and tumble drier. A french-window leads out to the courtyard garden.

First Floor:
Three bedrooms, two with doublebeds and one with twins; each with ensuite bathroom.
All the bedrooms are large and exquisitely furnished. One bedroom has a double bed (140x185cm). The second bedroom has twin beds (90x185cm). The third, the 'master', bedroom is tremendously spacious (32m2) has a king-sized bed (180x190cm - actually two singles put together).

Second Floor:
Three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The first room, which has twin beds, and the second room with a double bed, share an inter-connecting bathroom with separate wc. The third bedroom, also with a double bed, has its own ensuite bathroom.

Outside: Both the living-dining room and the kitchen lead out to the small garden (approx 250m2). There is a flagstone terrace with large dining table and a smaller stone table. Two steps lead upto a lawned area by the kitchen and the 5x3m pool. The pool is slightly raised with stone-faced sides.
