The Paciano Terrace is located on the main business street of Paciano, safely tucked away inside the walls of this Umbrian hill top town. It is a spacious two-bedroom apartment featuring a large live in kitchen, fireplaces, a large terrace and views over the countryside into Tuscany. Its generously proportioned 5 rooms comfortably sleep up to eight adults. The property is available for long term rentals of six months or more.
The internal entrance is upstairs, and once inside, you go up another flight of stairs to reach the living room. If the thought of all that climbing is putting you of, don’t be, this large, airy room with its cotto floors, and original 17th century beams on the ceiling, is well worth the effort, and think of all the gym fees you are saving! Furnished with a formal dining table, a double bed sofa, and couches, the two large windows look out over life on the narrow cobbled street below, with the Umbrian hills in the background.
To the left of the living room there is a small room, containing a wardrobe and some chairs that can be used for storage or as a study. Although you may well want to bag it as your wardrobe, as the master bedroom, with its magnificent, turn of the century wooden bed, runs of it. This room is entirely furnished with pieces from the same period, and has the added bonus of an endless view, over the rooftops of Paciano, to the Tuscan hills beyond.
The kitchen, accessed from the living room, is huge, yet cozy and will soon, in true Italian style, become the center of your home. One end of the room is set out as a kitchen with all the usual amenities, a 4-hob gas stove, fridge, sink, and washing machine. While the other end is set out as an informal dining area with a table and chairs, but also with a bed sofa and two comfy chairs set out around the red brick fire place. There is nothing stopping you from lighting the fire and grilling your sausages and steaks over it in true Umbrian style.
A large terrace leads off from the kitchen, where you can easily fit a table and umbrella, and still have space for some deck chairs. This is the perfect place to sit of an evening, with a large glass of local wine, while enjoying the view over the Umbrian hills.
From the living room, a flight of stairs leads up to the attic. The space was recently restored during the refurbishment of the roof (which was lifted and raised). Two rooms have been converted into a bedroom and a study, furnished with beds, tables and bookshelves. There is a sink next to the window, giving you the best views when washing up. Funnily enough, during the restoration of the roof, a text was found scribbled in the attic. Dating from 1824, it talks about the previous restauration of the roof.
The one draw back to a house of this size is that it has only one bathroom, which also comes of the living room. It was redone in the mid 1990’s, and is fully tiled, with a shower. The house also has thermostatically controlled Gas central heating.
